PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new nuclear polyhedrosis virus (NPV) of Spodoptera litura; to provide an embedded body of the virus; and to provide a pest insect-controlling material capable of extremely effectively carrying out biological control against the Spodoptera litura.;SOLUTION: A DNA fragment having ≥16 kbp length is not recognized when the genome DNA of the type-A NPV is cleaved by EcoRI. The DNA fragment having the ≥16 kbp length is recognized when the type-C NPV of the new NPV is cleaved by the EcoRI, but a DNA fragment having 4.7-5.9 kbp length is not recognized. The embedded body comprises a lethal organism obtained after inoculating the NPV in a larva of the Spodoptera litura, and contains the NPV in high concentration. The pest insect-controlling material comprises a material containing the type-C NPV, a material containing only the type-A NPV or a material containing the type-(A+C) NPV.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
