The risk associated with the cost of maintaining intellectual property rights for a first legal entity is reduced by transferring title in the intellectual property right with the grant back of non-exclusive royalty free license to use the invention there being a commitment from the second legal entity to maintain the intellectual property right enforceable, and the option for the first legal entity to regain title in the intellectual property right from the second legal entity to the first legal entity on payment of predetermined consideration. The second legal entity being otherwise free to utilise the intellectual property right for its own financial gain. The ipr may be a patent, registered design or trade mark.
