The method of determining oil change times for a fleet vehicle uses oil condition indicators which are dependent on the use of the vehicles. The indicators are transmitted to a central station (ST) which stores all the information for all vehicles in a fleet. Data is determined for each vehicle in the fleet and the oil indicators for each vehicle are compared to the homologous information for all vehicles of that category. A oil change alert signal is sent each vehicle when necessary.
