The pyrolysis of fluid wastes comprises passing the wastes in gaseous form through an electrically heated carbon fabric in a sealed vessel. An Independent claim is also included for apparatus for destroying fluid wastes by pyrolysis, comprising a sealed vessel containing an electrical heating element comprising a carbon fabric through which the wastes can pass in gaseous form.
