Window protective bars, for keeping intruders out of houses and preventing people from falling from windows in hospitals, have ends fitted into sockets, with both sockets having tubes for locking keys in place
Window opening is fitted with one or more vertical, horizontal or oblique bars (1) which have their ends set in sockets (8, 14) in the masonry or timber surrounding the opening. Upper socket has a sloping side and wedge (21) to allow insertion of the bar, and both sockets have transverse tubes (9a, 9b; 15a, 15b) for locking keys (16) inserted through the bars from inside the building to fix the bars in place while allowing authorized removal.
