The system uses tubes (1) or rings (2), placed on a board (3) and filled with soil, for sowing and germinating seeds - the tubes for individual plants and the rings for groups. When the seedlings are big enough to transplant the tubes or rings are placed in a U-section trough (4) with a handle (5) at one end for drawing it along a furrow (6), while a tool with a haft (7) and a head (8) with two tines (9), a lug (10) and a pick (11) is used to transfer the tubes or rings into the furrow. Where the tubes or rings are of a chemically stable material they are removed before the plants get too big.
