摘要
Coating metal substrates with polysaccharides (I) involves: (1) pretreatment by chemical modification of the surface; and (2) application of an intermediate coating of a silane compound containing groups which react with the metal and groups which react with (I); before (3) application of a coating solution containing (I). Coating metal substrates with a layer of a polysaccharide compound (I), involves: (1) chemical modification of the metal surface, e.g. with a liquid modifier; (2) application of an intermediate coating of a silane compound (II), e.g. in solution, with two reactive groups, one for reaction with the metal and the other for direct or indirect reaction with (I); and (3) application of a coating material containing (I), e.g. in solution. Independent claims are also included for: (1) Metal substrates coated by this method; (2) Vascular endoprosthesis of the stent type comprising a coated metal substrate as in (1); and (3) Metal objects for medical or surgical applications, e.g. stents for transluminal percutaneous coronary angioplasty, comprising a coated metal substrate as above with a polysaccharide-based surface coating attached by covalent bonding to the substrate via an intermediate coating (II) with many grafting points consisting of silane units attached to the metal by metal-O- bonds and to the polysaccharide by covalent -NH- bonds.
