The second class seat assembly has two cushion bases, two seat backs and two arm rests (4). It has a sliding mechanism (5) to allow at least one of the seat backs and one of the arm rests to remain aligned with the others through a translational movement (T) which brings the seat backs together and moves the armrests towards each other. The seat assembly also allows the single first class seat assembly to be transformed back into two second class seats.
