Device (1) comprises a frame (6) having a cutting blade (16) which passes transversely through an asparagus dam (3) to cut the asparagus (2). The cutting blade is arranged upstream of a sieve device (17) which separates the asparagus from the dam material (20). Preferred Features: The cutting blade is oscillated by a drive (14). The cutting device is connected to the drive via a lever mechanism (12).
