A method for mounting postage stamps onto a sheet in a collecting album has a recess cut into the sheet to match the outline of the stamp. Two parallel slits in a strip of material alongside the recess form a simple tag under which one edge of a postage stamp is pushed. The recess mounted stamp enables the sheet to be stacked with similar sheets without the additional thickness of the stamps causing the album to have a raised central area. The mounting sheet is prepared using simple tools.
