The dyke comprises lower wall parts (8), preferably in the form of ribbed concrete pieces, which rest on top of an earth construction (1) with a foundation, a means (2) for preventing water escaping by seepage and a drain system (4). These parts are erected using conventional manipulators or by flotation and are connected to the earth construction by tensile parts (20). The tilt force generated by the horizontal water pressure is at least partly absorbed by the vertical water pressure on the earth construction.
