The container for especially hot drinks consists of a cup section (2) with at least one gripping surface which stands away from it and is fitted on the cup section in such a way that the hand gripping the container is in contact with the gripping surface. The gripping surface encompasses the cup section in a half-shell, shell or ring form manner. The cup may have two diametrically opposite gripping surfaces and installed parallel to the generated surface of the cup section. A gap exists between the gripping surface and generated surface of the cup section.
