An unsaturated polyester resin composition contains 8-20 wt.% unsaturated polyester resin, 4-12 wt.% liquid thermoplastic resin, 8-20 wt.% glass fiber and 50-75 wt.% inorganic filler. An unsaturated polyester resin composition contains: (1) 8-20 wt.% unsaturated polyester resin; (2) 4-12 wt.% liquid thermoplastic resin; (3) 8-20 wt.% glass fiber; and (4) 50-75 wt.% inorganic filler. Independent claims are included for: (a) a cured unsaturated polyester resin obtain by curing the unsaturated polyester resin composition with a 60 deg angular gloss of = 88%, a gloss transition point of = 180 deg C, a tensile strength of = 20 MPa, a bending strength of = 40 MPa and an Izod impact strength of = 40 J/m. The weight loss of the cured polyester resin is less than 1.5% when heated to 200 deg C for 200 hours; and (b) a lamp reflecting mirror base made of the above cured unsaturated polyester resin.
