A three-dimensional (3D) image display apparatus, comprises an image forming display flat panel (100) and a lens unit (200) disposed in front of the panel. The lens unit comprises set of diffractive optical devices (210) having several diffractive grating elements (212) parallel to each other, which are disposed above the panel. The lens unit converts images projected from the panel into 3D images. A three-dimensional (3D) image display apparatus, comprises an image forming display flat panel (100) and a lens unit (200). The lens unit comprising set of diffractive optical devices (210), is disposed in front of the panel. Each diffractive optical device comprises several diffractive grating elements (212) parallel to one another, which are disposed above the panel. The lens unit converts images projected from the panel into 3D images.
