The heater and air conditioner for a motor vehicle has a heat exchanger (13) with three segments (131,132,133) connected to channels opening into different parts of the vehicle passenger space. The segments have flow controls for the heat exchange fluid in them. The third heat exchanger segment (132) has a permanent through flow of heat exchange medium independent of the other two segments and has a flow control for air flow through it.
