Purifying a gas using a finely divided adsorbent in an entrained bed reactor comprises using a dielectric plastic for the wall surfaces in the flow direction of the reactor. The adsorbent is an electrostatically charged solid. Preferred Features: The adsorbent is removed from the purified gas stream leaving the reactor and is re-introduced into the reactor as re-circulating material. The re-circulating material is recycled using a recycling device having contact surfaces made from electrically non-conducting material.
