Conversion of solidified thermoplastic hot melt material in a storage container into flowable melt involves a material container lowered onto a fixed piston with heated upper end
A piston(11) is held with its heated end face facing upwards and a container(17) holding the material is lowered. An opening in the container base is guided onto the piston which seals against the inner surface of the container and melt is drawn off. The piston end has a heating plate(21) whose surface facing the container includes pyramids(22) or prisms of equal height. Parallel channels(23) start from the base of each pyramid and run through the heating plate into an internal cylinder(37). The cylinder has external heating elements(38) protected by a thermally insulating cylinder(35). The container is mounted on an open topped collecting tank(13) with a heated, inclined base(43). Grippers for lowering the container move along a vertical axis, swivel around this axis and rotate through not less than180degrees around a horizontal axis. An Independent claim is included for the process equipment including a container(17) with grippers for lowering onto a fixed piston(11).
