A powder feeding apparatus for powder metallurgical powders comprises at least one die; punches shiftable within a die opening in upwardly and downwardly directions; a feeding device; and mask(s) having mask opening(s). The feeding device comprises a filling shoe movable above a die surface into at least one position that is distant from the die opening. A powder feeding apparatus (8) especially for powder metallurgical powders (11) comprises: at least one die (1) comprising a die surface and die opening(s) within the die surface; punches (3, 4, 5) shiftable within the die opening in upwardly and downwardly directions; a feeding device; and mask(s) having mask opening(s). The feeding device comprises a filling shoe (7) being movable above the die surface into at least one position that is distant from the die opening, and a powder-filling device for filing the feeding device with powder. The mask comprises a mask guiding devices having a temporarily covering mechanism in such a way that the open die opening(s) in the mask guiding device are arranged above a part of the die opening that has to be filled with powder before or during movement of the filling shoe toward and over the die opening and for removing the mask from the die opening when or after the filling shoe moves away from the die opening. An Independent claim is included for a method for feeding with pulverized or granulated material a die opening within a powder feeding apparatus using a filling shoe, comprising: arranging upon the die opening a mask as above, before being fed with pulverized or granulated material in order to feed a pre-determined space of the die opening in a well-directed way; driving filling device(s) into a feeding position above the die opening embedded in the die and into a non-feeding position away from the die opening above the die's upper side; and filling a hollow space the pulverized or granulated material in the feeding position built in the die opening above at least one punch that is moveable in an upwardly and downwardly direction. The open mask opening of the mask is placed above the die opening before or during the moving of the filler device in the feeding position above the die opening.
