A method for applying additives, e.g. deodorant, into a WC cistern has a reservoir (2) fitted to the inside of the cistern, above the water level, and secured to the unused hole (1) for the water supply. The fittings is via a hollow threaded shaft fitted with an outside cap (3) for easy refilling. The bottom of the reservoir has a dispensing system with a plunger (4) attached to the top of a float (5). This provides a metered amount every time the cistern is operated.
