Sun blind system with a blind or awning that comprises an integral rain sensor. The rain sensor has at least electrical contacts arranged at a distance from each other in order to monitor the resistance of the material between them, which varies as a function of the moisture level in the material. The material can be simply the material of the blind or a special material insert. As soon as the resistance sinks below a threshold value the blind or awning is drawn in.
