Heat treatment process for steel comprises carbonitriding the steel surface, adjusting austenitic temperature, quenching, isothermally converting until specified residual austenite is present in core of component, and cooling
Heat treatment process comprises carbonitriding on steel surface at 860-930 deg C in atmosphere containing 0.6-1.3% carbon, up to 20% ammonia, up to 1.1% carbon and nitrogen; adjusting austenitic temperature to 830-860 deg C; quenching at 190-230 deg C; isothermally converting at 190-230 deg C for several hours until residual austenite in component core is less than 5%; and cooling to room temperature.
