Source separation of linear and non-linear signals, e.g. separation of sound signals originating from two sources, by use of a transformer that converts non-linear number series into a linear coordinate space prior to separation
Device for source separation comprises a source separation unit (24) with inputs for at least two number series representing sequences, time series or vectors. Prior to the source separation unit is a transformer unit (18) that converts non-linear number series into a number series in a linear coordinate system which are then input to the source separation unit. Optimally the transformation unit is configured to undertake a dimension reduction whereby a T-dimensional parameter space is reduced to a d-dimensional parameter space using principle component analysis.
