To give staple fibers from vegetable materials e.g. flax, the retted straw together with wood is broken down continuously and mechanically for intensive cleaning by carding to give fine staple fibers for spinning
To prepare natural fiber materials to give staple fibers for spinning, e.g. flax fibers, the retted flax straw is taken as the raw material still with the wood matter. It is broken down into fibers in a continuous mechanical process into a cotton-type fiber material, without separation of long and short fibers. The operating speed and the arrangement of the processing units are set according to the specifications of the end product. After intensive cleaning in a carding machine, the material is in fine short fibers for spinning, with defined fiber parameters.
