Rocker arm used in a valve gear of an internal combustion engine comprises an external rocker having an inner rocker positioned between its arms which pivot relative to each other
Rocker arm (1) comprises an external lever (2) having an inner lever (4) positioned between its arms (3a, 3b) which pivot relative to each other. Both levers (2, 4) are coupled together using a coupling unit (10). The external rocker has a device (6) for a gas exchange valve on its closed end (5) and the rocker arm has a rotating surface (8) on the opposing end (7). The inner lever has a running surface (11) for a cam and is loaded in the direction of the cam using a lost-motion spring (12) formed as a torsion spring supported on the internal combustion engine or on the outer lever facing the gas exchanger valve. Preferred Features: The inner lever is supported with its pivoting center (9) on the cam side of the rotating surface. At least one of the arms of the external rocker protrudes orthogonally from an axis on the opposing end.
