Memento of a newborn child is the preserved placenta and umbilical cord, in a vacuum-sealed transparent container, which gives a life-long genetic record and the like for access in a future illness
As a memento of the birth of a child, and as a genetic record, the placenta and umbilical cord are preserved in formalin or in a mixture of 15% isopropyl alcohol and 85% glycerin. The preserved organs are placed within a transparent ball or egg-shaped container, and hermetically sealed in vacuum.
