Electric arc welding process comprises introducing a first current impulse to a welding electrode to dissolve material droplets on the electrode or welding wire. An intermediate impulse, whose energy is not sufficient to dissolve the material droplets, is fed to the welding electrode between each main impulse to stabilize the electric arc. The energy of the intermediate impulse is in the region of 10-70%. The intermediate impulse has a triangular or trapezoidal shape. The amplitude of the base current can be changed before and after the intermediate impulses.
