Thermal post-combustion device for cleaning waste gases comprises an external housing (1) surrounded by an insulating jacket (2) and containing a combustion chamber (4) defined by a combustion chamber housing (3), and a burner (8) charged with fuel and having a first flame tube (11) surrounding a burner jet (20) and connecting the space between the external housing and the combustion chamber housing to the combustion chamber. The burner has at least one further flame tube (12) completely arranged within the combustion chamber and surrounding the end of the first flame tube with a greater radius so that an annular gap (13) is formed between the first flame tube and the second flame tube.
