Bubble formation during homogenizing, conditioning or molding of glass melts is reduced by increasing oxygen absorption by redox reactions and decreasing water content of melt so that oxygen absorption during homogenizing, conditioning or molding is higher than oxygen amount which can form during splitting on platinum of water remaining in melt and by hydrogen diffusion into atmosphere. An Independent claim is also included for a device for homogenizing, conditioning or molding glass melts.
