Method in which a frequency spectrum and corresponding parameters for an ideal component are recorded and then a frequency spectrum and corresponding parameters are determined and recorded for an ideal component with modified parameters. The spectra and parameters of production components are compared with both ideal parameter values and modified parameter values to determine if the component is acceptable. The invention also relates to a corresponding computer program, server unit and programmable gate array.
