The manufacture provides contact grid, collector and connector contact surfaces (3), the latter extending along the sides of a straight-sided solar cell (1) cut from a round wafer at which a space is left when solar cells are fitted together with a maximum packing density, e.g along opposite angled sides of the non-rectangular solar cell.
