Cell analysis comprising fixing cells to a carrier and coloring with first dye for a digital image to be taken and stored in memory. The cells are then colored with a second dye of visually different characteristics, and a second digital image is taken and stored. The cells are arranged in a single layer on the carrier, without overlapping. The stored digital images are studied with an automatic image analysis process.
