FIELD: short-term forecasting of earthquakes. SUBSTANCE: maps of baric fields including areas of increased and decreased atmospheric pressure are constructed. Prognostic fields of atmospheric pressures for next several days are computed. Parameters of solar plasma crossing orbit of the Earth in the form of disturbed solar wind and effecting fields of atmospheric pressure are established by data from earth satellites. These parameters are taken into account when prognostic fields are computed by chronological data of seismological observations up to present time, value of deviation of baric formations in certain direction relative to tectonic fractures is found in seismically active areas on territory of the Earth. Seismic- synoptic catalogue used to determine areas of expected earthquakes is drawn up and time of earthquake and point of its epicenter are defined more exactly by prognostic fields of atmospheric pressure on second day in seismically risky area established in advance, by match of zero isonormal and spatial position of tectonic fracture. Magnitude of earthquake is determined by value of baric gradient of key baric formations located on opposite sides of tectonic fracture. EFFECT: raised authenticity of method.
