PURPOSE: Provided is a preparation method of nano-sized α-Al2O3 particles having uniform size and shape, low temperature synthesis, and high purity without contamination of alkali metals by chemical method using glycol solution containing α-Fe2O3 or α-Al2O3 as a seed. CONSTITUTION: The nano-sized α-Al2O3 particles containing alkali metal(Na or K) less than 20ppm in size are prepared by the following steps of: adding a seed solution, obtained by dispersing α-Fe2O3(50-60nm) or α-Al2O3 to ethanol, to glycol solution, 1,4-butanediol, and heating to 100deg.C to evaporate ethanol; adding 0.25-1.0M(based on the total amount of glycol solution) of aluminum propoxide, and heating to 200deg.C and stirring for 2hrs for glycolate reaction; glycothermal reacting by heating at a rate of 3deg.C/min to 230deg.C for 3-48hrs and 250deg.C for 3-48hrs in case that α-Al2O3 and α-Fe2O3 are use as a seed, respectively.
