PURPOSE: A method of cultivating lettuce by applying a controlled release fertilizer to the artificial soil such as artificial bed soil, vermiculite or peat moss and then sowing lettuce seeds is provided to harvest the lettuce four times or more periodically. CONSTITUTION: The controlled release fertilizer is applied to the artificial soil of pH 5.5 to 7.0 for supporting roots of lettuce in an amount of 3 to 5g per cultivation vessel. Water is then supplied to the cultivation vessel. Wherein, one or two lettuce seeds are sown and the artificial soil is selected from artificial bed soil, vermiculite or peat moss. For an example, 3g of controlled release fertilizer is applied to a vinyl pot in which horticultural artificial bed soil is inserted.One or more lettuce seeds are then sown and moisture is applied thereto.
