The present invention relates to a mobile communication terminal having a voice input / output earphone jack, a personal handy-phone system (PHS), personal digital assistants (PDA) and a mobile personal computer, and a digital camera for connecting to the portable information terminal. And a digital camera connected to a portable information device including a portable information terminal and a digital camera, and a method of controlling such a portable information terminal. Existing earphone jacks provided on a portable information terminal can be employed as a plug for a digital camera or an insert plug for a connector of a USB cable, thereby reducing costs and the system can be used with highly flexible portable information terminals and portable information terminals. It is made compact to provide a digital camera.
