Echo compensation procedure for a telecommunication device, with the steps: a) generation of at least one compensation signal (CM1, CM2) based on an output signal (OUT) from the telecommunication device by modeling the transmission properties of a transmission path, taking into account the non-linear distortions of the transmission path, and b) matching the portions of the echo in an input signal (IN) of the telecommunication apparatus based on at least one signal of compensation (CM1, CM2) in order to obtain an echo compensated result signal (RES), taking into account the non-linear distortions on the transmission path by means of an adaptation procedure, characterized in that the adaptation in this procedure it is carried out on the basis of the echo compensated result signal (RES).
