The electrical signal generating process is disturbed in a controlled manner by the introduction of jitters, which are time deviations between a factual signal and an ideal equivalence. A jitter modulator generates a time-dependent signal (Sj), the time-dependent properties of which deviate to a specific extent from the time-dependent properties of an ideal reference signal, i.e. without disturbances. A summation unit (310) receives a first signal (Ss) representing an ideal reference signal and a second signal (Sm) representing the specific extent of deviation. As an answer, the summation unit produces a primary jitter-modulated signal (S'j), as a linear sum of the two received signals. A tuning unit (320) receives the primary jitter-modulated signal, based on which it produces an output signal with a well-defined amplitude, which defines the time-dependent signal (Sj).
