PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal-coated optical fiber which can reduce the man-hours of aligning operation for an LD chip and an optical fiber, prevent a fiber from moving owing to YAG welding heat, and improve the yield can coupling efficiency, and to provide a metal-coated optical fiber with protection resin a metal-coated optical fiber with a sleeve and a manufacturing method for an optical semiconductor module.;SOLUTION: The metal-coated optical fiber is manufactured through a protection coating layer peeling stage f1 for exposing a bare optical fiber by peeling the protection coating layer of an optical fiber, an oblique cutting stage f2 for forming an obliquely cleaved surface by cleaving an end part of the bare optical fiber obliquely at 3 to 10° to the optical axis, a high melting point metal oxide layer forming stage f3 for forming an oxide layer of chromium or titanium as a 1st layer around the bare fiber, a high melting point metal layer forming stage f4 for forming chromium or titanium as a 2nd layer around the 1st layer, and a low melting point metal layer forming stage f5 for forming a solderable low melting point metal layer of nickel, gold, etc., as a 3rd layer around the 2nd layer.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
