PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving tool for investigating the contamination of surface layer soil which can surely collect underground air at a predetermined depth even in a stratum having the high possibility of collapsing and can carry out highly accurate investigation without the mixing of the ground surface air.;SOLUTION: The driving tool is provided with a hollow rod 1 having a part 2 for introducing underground air at its tip, a bit 3 mounted on the tip of the rod, and a hitting mechanism for hitting the rod 1. The part 2 for introducing the underground air is provided with a vent hole 13 allowing the inside and outside of the part 2 to communicate with, and a valve 14 for opening/ closing the vent hole 13. The hollow rod 1 is provided with a means 7 for airtightly holding the space between an underground air collecting tube 17 to be fitted into the hollow rod and the inner periphery of the hollow rod in a position above the vent hole 13.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
