PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-quality color coated optical fiber by measuring the adhesion strength between a secondary layer and a colored layer in the color coated optical fiber. SOLUTION: The color coated optical fiber 1 comprises an optical fiber 7 produced by coating a single optical fiber 3 with a plastic clad 5, a secondary layer 9 covering the optical fiber 7, and a color layer 11 covering the secondary layer 9. The color layer 11 in one end of the color coated optical fiber 1 is adhered with an adhesive to a test rubber body 15 having a V-shaped groove 17 in the V-shaped groove. The fiber is subjected to a tensile test by applying tension on the test rubber body 15 and the other end of the color coated optical fiber 1 to measure the adhesion strength between the secondary layer 9 and the color layer 11. The fiber is regarded as passed the test when the maximum stress by the test is =1.0 N/ mm. Thus, a high-quality color coated optical fiber 1 can be obtained.
