PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting rod or hot forged components made from non-heat treated steel, having a yield ratio ≥0.80 and a yield strength ≥790 MPa, superior in machinability and cracking properties.;SOLUTION: The manufacturing method comprises heating steel consisting of, by mass%, 0.20-0.30% C, 0.40-1.00% Si, 0.50-1.30% Mn, 0.04-0.12% S, 0.04-0.08% P, 0.20% or less Cr, 0.15-0.40% V, 0.30% or less Ti, 0.10% or less Nb, and the balance Fe with impurities, at 1,100-1,300°C, forging it at a higher finishing temperature than 950°C into a forging ratio of 4 or higher, cooling it to 600°C or lower, and keeping it at 500-700°C.
