METHOD OF REACTING HYDROGEN WITH ROCK CRYSTAL GLASS TO IMPROVE REFRACTIVE INDEX UNIFORMITY AND LASER INTENSITY KEEPING PRESCRIBED STRESS BIREFRINGENCE AND ROCK CRYSTAL GLASS MANUFACTURED BY THIS METHOD
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of evenly reacting hydrogen with a rock crystal glass in an annealing process in a furnace in order to improve refractive index uniformity and laser intensity keeping the prescribed stress birefringence of the rock crystal glass.;SOLUTION: The refractive index distribution, stress birefringence, hydrogen distribution and refractive index difference to be equilibrated of the rock crystal glass are measured and then a hydrogen quantity necessary for refractive index equilibration is determined. Further, the annealing temperature and the holding time thereof, as well as a hydrogen concentration and hydrogen pressure in the furnace are so set that the refractive index distribution is sufficiently equilibrated. The rock crystal glass is reacted with the hydrogen by performing the annealing under the determined conditions.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
