PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide case hardening bearing steel which has an excellent rolling fatigue life in a quasi-high temperature region and has an excellent toughness at an ordinary temperature as well.;SOLUTION: The case hardening bearing steel has a composition containing, by mass, 0.15 to 0.30% C, 0.5 to 2.0% Si, 0.3 to 2.0% Mn, 1.3 to 2.5% Cr, 0.3 to 1.0% Mo and ≤0.0012% O in the range satisfying (Si+Mo)≥1.0%, and the balance iron with inevitable impurities. Further, the maximum diameter of oxide based nonmetallic inclusions is controlled to ≤12.5 μm when the area to be inspected is 320 mm2, and also, the number of oxide based nonmetallic inclusions having a diameter of the equivalent circle of ≥3 μm is controlled to ≤250 pieces when the area to be inspected is 320 mm2. Further, the concentration of C in the surface layer part is controlled to the range of 0.7 to 1.2% by carburizing treatment.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
