PURPOSE: To stabilize a catalyst having decreased acidity, better selectivity for aromatics and lower decomposition property by containing an amorphous silica alumina carrier, a rare earth oxide and a metal wherein the metal is selected from the group consisting of group VIII noble metals, a mixture of group VIII noble metals with Re, and a mixture of group VIII noble metals with tin. ;CONSTITUTION: A catalyst compsn. for hydrocarbon conversion is constituted in such a way that an amorphous silica-alumina carrier having at least about 50 wt.% of silica, a rare earth oxide and a metal are contained, wherein the metal is selected from the group consisting of group VIII noble metals, the mixture of group VIII noble metals with Re, and the mixture of group VIII noble metals with tin. As a result, there can be obtained a catalyst having decreased acidity, better selectivity for aromatics and lower decomposition property. In a catalyst hydrocarbon conversion method comprising hydrogen isomerization of at least a part of feed stream such as C5 natural wax, the feed stream is brought into contact with the catalyst compsn. for hydrocarbon conversion.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
