PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the resistance to the noises by applying the optimum affine conversion to an input gray image and performing the image identification between the affine converted superimposed input gray image and a reference gray image so as to secure the maximum normalization mutual correlation. SOLUTION: An affine conversion parameter deciding part 12 generates a simultaneous linear equation that should be satisfied by the optimum affine conversion parameter with which the maximum normalization mutual correlation is secured between an affine converted superimposed input gray image and a reference gray image with a maximization standard of the weighted normalization mutual correlation using a Gaussian core function type inter-point weighting factor that is calculated at a weighting factor calculation part 11. A convergence deciding part 15 sends the maximum normalization mutual correlation value to an image output part 4 as a gray image matching result. Then the part 4 outputs an identified image in response to the gray image matching result.
