By this, the edge part of a cam follower is not brought in contact strongly with the cam surface 11a, and the cam surface 11a is not damaged by the edge part. As a result, the edge part of the cam follower is not caught by the strap traces when the intake side cam is moved in its axial direction, and the switchover of the opening and closing timing and lift amount of the intake valve can be maintained smoothly.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
