The plant, comprising an extrusion die (5) depositing filaments (6) esp of a plastic material in a layer at a point (10) on a continuous conveyor (1), and a system (12) for consolidating the layer at a point (13) after the deposition point, using a fluid jet projected onto the filaments. The consolidation point is situated less than a metre from the deposition point, and the outlets of the fluid jet projector are situated at a distance of 1 - 100 mm, and pref 5 - 30 mm, from the conveyor at the consolidation point, which is situated over a suction housing (14). After the consolidation point the conveyor passes over a vacuum unit (16) and a drier (15).
