The procedure provides predictive determination of a person's mental activity. Using encephalograms for the person in the course of periods of effort, a fatigue function (F(t)) and a recovery function (R(t)) are determined. A predictive value is of mental state is then determined from these two function. The procedure provides predictive determination of a parameter representative of a person's mental activity. It includes the acquisition of encephalograms for the person in the course of at least two periods of effort, separated by a period of rest. In the course of each period of effort, the average value of strange attractor (df(t)) is determined. For each of the periods of effort and rest a fatigue function (F(t)) and a recovery function (R(t)) are determined, according to an exponential model with F(t) = Foe-ft and R(t)=Roert, where f and r indicate coefficients of fatigue and rest respectively. A predictive value is then determined, defined as df=F(t) R(t) in the course of at least two effort periods separated by a rest period.
