Equipment for pre-treating wastewater is mounted wholly on a barge. The equipment reduces the chemical oxygen demand of the wastewater so it can be discharged safely into the environment The barge may float in a wastewater basin or has legs/feet for resting on the bottom of the basin. The equipment includes a pump directing air to a submerged diffuser adjacent a submerged mixing screw.
