The two printing cylinders are driven through gearwheels (1) which are connected to each other through pinions (4) mounted on shafts (7). The shafts (7) are fitted with pinions (3) through which the drive is transmitted from one printing cylinder (1) through the change-over drum (2) to the other printing cylinder (1). When changing from one printing mode to another, the angular positions of the two printing cylinders relative to each other are changed by disconnecting the clutch (6) which connects one of the pinions (5) to its shaft (7). The gear wheels (1, 2) of the second printing cylinder and of the change-over drum are then free to be rotated relative to the gear wheel of the first printing cylinder. USE/ADVANTAGE - Multicolour rotary printing mechanism. The printing mode can be changed without removing the main driving gear.
